Sustainability at Dr. Beckmann
Commitment for a clean future
At Dr. Beckmann, a clean home and the responsible use of resources go hand in hand. Our products not only clean effectively, but also care for and help extend the lifespan of textiles and household appliances.
After all, items that are properly cleaned and cared for don’t need to be replaced.
Whether it’s your favourite jumper, washing machine or upholstered furniture – with the right care and cleaning products, you can extend their lifespan.
Responsibility begins with product performance
For us, effectiveness is a key prerequisite for the resource-efficient use of our products. After all, products only contribute to resource-efficient household use if they clean thoroughly and reliably. Our product formulations are designed to:
- Clean gently yet thoroughly
- Be effective even at low temperatures
- Extend the lifespan of clothes and household appliances
- Prevent excessive use of detergent
By combining high performance with reduced energy consumption during use, the product supports conscious use in everyday life.
Carefully selected ingredients
We select all the ingredients and components for our products with great care: we place great importance on the highest quality and a meticulous selection of ingredients. Our passion and decades of research have resulted in many innovative products with excellent efficacy.
Innovative solutions for everyday life
Many of our Dr. Beckmann laundry products are formulated to be effective even at temperatures as low as 20°. This means they work just as well on your washing machine’s energy-saving or eco cycle – helping you to save on electricity and energy costs
Another example is our MAGIC LEAVES® detergent and cleaning sheets: lightweight, space-saving, pre-measured sheets that dissolve completely in water without leaving any residue, whilst cleaning effectively and thoroughly. Thanks to their ease of use, they help to prevent using too much detergent. Our MAGIC LEAVES® offer even more benefits:
- Less packaging material
- Lightweight and space-saving storage
- No spilling in the detergent compartment
Less is more - our motto when it comes to packaging
Packaging plays an important role in our approach to sustainability. We take care to tailor our packaging to the specific product in terms of size, weight and material, and to minimise the use of unnecessary packaging materials.
To promote material cycles, we are increasingly turning to recyclable materials: our cardboard packaging is already made predominantly from recycled raw materials, and we are also continuously increasing the proportion of recycled plastic* in our plastic packaging.
We have set ourselves the target of switching our plastic packaging entirely to recyclable plastic by 2030 at the latest. We already use up to 80%** less plastic for Dr. Beckmann MAGIC LEAVES® laundry and cleaning sheets compared with conventional liquid alternatives.
The correct use of materials
Packaging materials are not automatically good or bad – what matters is how they are used in the specific context:
Take plastics, for example:
- Protects products from external factors such as heat and moisture – thereby helping to maintain the product’s effectiveness
- Their low weight can help reduce transport emissions
- Can be recycled if disposed of correctly
At Dr. Beckmann, the choice of packaging material and the amount used are selected to maximise benefit.
For a clean home that feels good
With products that clean effectively and help to preserve clothes and household appliances, Dr Beckmann helps people to make sustainable living part of their everyday lives.
Renewable energy in manufacturing
In our production processes, too, we are constantly working to conserve resources. At our sites in Egelsbach (Germany) and Bolton (UK), we use photovoltaic systems to generate renewable energy. Furthermore, at the Egelsbach site, we source 100% green electricity.
*Post-consumer recycled plastic, or PCR for short.
** Compared with conventional liquid alternatives in plastic bottles containing a comparable amount per pack unit.
