For us, sustainability clearly goes hand in hand with the effectiveness of our products. Only products that are efficient, thorough, and reliable contribute to a resource-friendly use in the household. Our formulations are designed to combine powerful performance with sustainability, for greater long-term value in everyday life.

For our products, we carefully select all ingredients and components: alongside the highest quality and effectiveness, we rely on certified raw materials. The use of natural and biodegradable ingredients also holds great importance at Dr. Beckmann, without ever compromising the effectiveness of our products. After all, a product that is 100% natural but not effective is, in our view, not sustainable. Through passion and decades of research, we have developed many products with excellent effectiveness and performance, where sustainability considerations play a central role.

Our laundry products are optimized to deliver their cleaning power often at temperatures as low as 20°C. This makes them effective even in the energy-saving or eco-programs of washing machines - helping save both electricity and costs. Another example are our detergent and cleaning sheets with Magic Leaves technology: lightweight, pre-measured sheets that clean effectively and efficiently, while their format prevents overdosing and thus reduces environmental impact through simple handling.

Our packaging is also a central part of Dr. Beckmann’s sustainability philosophy. Even today, we pay close attention to adapting our packaging size, format, and materials to suit each product and to reduce unnecessary packaging materials. A dedicated team works continuously to make our packaging as efficient as possible, further optimizing it and selecting the right raw materials and components.

To ensure the best possible value chain and an optimized packaging lifecycle, we already use recyclable materials: our cardboard packaging is made entirely from recycled and certified raw materials. For our plastic packaging, we are steadily increasing the proportion of recycled plastic (PCR), aiming to switch completely to recyclable plastic by 2030 and produce it with minimal resource use.

For example, we currently use up to 80%* less plastic in our Dr. Beckmann detergent and cleaning sheets compared to traditional liquid alternatives in plastic bottles.

Plastic often has a bad reputation. However, there are many situations where it is actually the more sustainable solution. For example, paper packaging is about three times heavier than plastic packaging. When considering all factors, including transportation, paper tends to have a worse carbon footprint compared to plastic. Moreover, plastic better protects our products from external influences such as moisture and heat, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of our products throughout transport and storage. An alternative made from coated paper would significantly reduce the recyclability of our packaging and therefore does not meet our standards for quality and sustainability.

A large part of our product portfolio also consists of liquids that need to arrive safely and optimally packaged in your home. In these cases, plastic is the better choice for us. But at Dr. Beckmann, we use plastic selectively - that is, only when it is the most efficient and sustainable option. Efficient plastic use and recyclability always remain our top priorities.

At our production sites in Egelsbach (Germany) and Bolton (UK), we have been relying on photovoltaic systems using the sun as a renewable energy source for our manufacturing for several years. The extensive use of solar energy helps significantly reduce the carbon footprint of Dr. Beckmann products. Our goal is to further expand and optimize this use to enable climate-friendly production in the long term. This way, we contribute to a more sustainable future not only through our products but also through our manufacturing processes.
